Chinese New Year

The children have come back from half term happy and excited to learn. This week we have been learning about Chinese New Year. Many of the children were able to share their knowledge from the research and work they did for their home learning.
We read the story of the animals race and then we found out which year we were born in. This year is the year of the dog. We all did some careful cutting to make Chinese lanterns and explored how to use chopsticks in the noodles.
Some children did some lovely pictures of Chinese dragons and made Dragons out of junk modelling and cutting and sticking. We have had a very enjoyable week.
Next week is Book week. Our Author of the week is Julia Donaldson and we will be focussing on two of her books. We would like the children to bring in their favourite book in the week and a cushion on Friday for our whole school read. We are looking forward to an enjoyable week.

Number Day!

Today it was the NSPCC number day. We all came in dressed in a number and brought some money for charity. 'We bringed in money and we used it for charity.' Isaac. 'We paid for our snack.' Maddison. 'We counted the numbers.' Ola
We read the story of the Rainbow fish and we wrote a sentence. 'The Rainbow fish was sharing and caring at the end.' Jimmy. In our computing lesson we learned how to use the 2 create a super story programme to make pictures and write sentences. Some of the children had a go at writing a book. Nia wrote the Rainbow Fish story in he own words.
Tonight we are all looking forward to the school disco!
Next week we are learning about money. The home learning is to learn about money by paying for things and perhaps playing shops together.

The Train Ride

The children have come back from the holidays eager to learn and to share what they did. We have read the story of 'The Train Ride'...
